Director Ang Lee’s last movie Life of Pi went on to win more Oscars than any other film at the 85th Academy Awards just weeks ago. Among those awards was a Best Director statue for Lee himself. Life of Pi has been critically-acclaimed and rightfully so. Now that the director has Hollywood at his beck and call, what will he do next? Well, it looks like Lee is taking a step back.
It has been announced that Ang Lee will actually make the move to the small screen as he next directs the pilot for FX’s Tyrant. If Tyrant is given a series order, Lee will remain on the project serving as executive producer.
Tyrant is a drama which revolves around an American family that is drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle East nation. Lee will be heading to Morocco in just a few months to begin filming the pilot. It’s being said that the cast will rely mostly on Middle Eastern talent.
