Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ Gets a Release Date

Christopher Nolan - Interstellar
After Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy finished last year, speculation ran wild about what the director’s next project would be. When Nolan became attached to Interstellar earlier this year, speculation died down a bit. Though, some still hoped he could put that aside for the moment and do a James Bond movie. That hope has been put to rest, though.

In a recent report, it was announced that Nolan’s Interstellar has been given a November 7, 2014 release date. Furthermore, the movie will release in IMAX. With this release date set, it’s now obvious that Interstellar will indeed be Nolan’s next project and he has no time to squeeze anything in before that.

Interstellar is being directed by Christopher Nolan, from a script by his brother Jonathan Nolan. We don’t have many details on the plot, other than it being about “a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding”.

Another bit of interesting news, accompanying this release date is the distribution deal that has been put in place. Warner Bros and Paramount have actually entered into a joint distribution deal for Interstellar. Paramount will be releasing the movie domestically, while Warner Bros will handle international distribution.

November release, I wonder if WB thinks this will be the flick that gets Nolan a nod.

I would think if WB is aiming to get Nolan an Oscar or even a nod, sci-fi wouldn’t be the best way to go. Historically, the Academy doesn’t give much love to the sci-fi (or fantasy) genre. Only a few times have sci-fi movies even been nominated for Best Director. And none of them won.
