With the success of Phase 1, and with the announcement of the Phase 2 lineup, the internet rumor mill has shifted its attention on Phase 3.
For those of you unfamiliar, Phase 1 included Iron Man 1 & 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Avengers, while Phase 2 is set to include Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Avengers 2.
Join us as we run down what has been confirmed and can be expected for Phase 3 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.
The latest rumor comes from Latino Review, indicating that The Hulk, deemed by his superhero pals as too dangerous and destructive to humankind, will be shot into space at the end of The Avengers 2. This has led many to speculate that Mark Ruffalo will star in a new Hulk movie at the beginning of Phase 3, and will possibly even kick it off, beginning the Planet Hulk story arc. Where will this go? The same speculators foresee a World War Hulk story line for The Avengers 3 – which would be nuts.
What has been confirmed by Kevin Feige, the President of Production at Marvel Studios, is that Ant-Man and Doctor Strange will be included in Phase 3. Ant-Man’s release date is November 6, 2015, a couple months after The Avengers 2’s May 1, 2015 date, and Dr. Strange has not been announced yet. Both of these characters would be welcome additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and one site has Nathan Fillion playing Hank Pym. Awesome!
The Inhumans is one of the wackier Marvel superhero teams, comprising of a royal family that lives on the dark side of the moon with their mutant dog named Lockjaw. Yet another internet rumor is telling the world to watch out for this one in the future – which might be a good idea, because these guys play into the World War Hulk storyline pretty heavily.
Maybe it would be an origin movie, maybe it would be a movie involving another superhero alongside her, who knows? All that can really be said is that a Black Widow movie is in the conceptual design stage, hopefully with Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as Natasha Romanoff. With Marvel developing a new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, it’s possible that the Black Widow movie will follow the events of that show.
Last but not least, The Black Panther is apparently in production. With references to Wakanda in Iron Man 2 and Captain America’s shield being constructed out of Vibranium, Wakanda’s most powerful natural resource, it’s only right that people believe that Prince T’Challa will make a big screen debut. The biggest question on most fans’ minds at this point: Who would play the Prince of Wakanda? If you have suggestions, leave them in the comments box below!
