The Adventures of Tintin Sequel Filming Next Year

The Adventures of TintinLast year’s The Adventures of Tintin was the best animated movie of the year, hands down, for me. So, knowing that a sequel was in the works even before The Adventures of Tintin was released was a wonderful promise for me after watching the first movie. Now, we have a rough idea of when that movie will come.

With The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey releasing tomorrow, Peter Jackson has been on the publicity circuit. When that circuit led him to Europe, it was no surprise that Tintin would be brought up. Mr. Jackson had some useful information, too.

We already know that the sequel to The Adventures of Tintin is said to be based on Prisoners of the Sun. Anthony Horowitz is currently writing the script as well. Jackson stated that he is to meet with Horowitz next week to go over the script. Furthermore, he states that, if all goes well, filming for The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun will begin filming next year, with the movie expected to be released in 2015.

This means Peter Jackson will find himself juggling some work and possibly having to set aside the post-production work on The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug while tending to The Adventures of Tintin.

If this holds true, that also means we’ll be getting a Peter Jackson movie each year, for the next four years at least. Personally, I can’t wait for more Tintin.

I didn’t anticipate there being another one after its lukewarm reception in the States.

I really enjoyed the first film up until the last 20mins or so. It was great as a comedic-mystery – the action was okay and the CGI was great but it lost a bit of its charm towards the end.

I loved Tintin all the way through. Didnt have on gripe with it really. Really took me back to when adventure films were really adventure films. As a big fan of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Tintin harkened back to that era and I really enjoyed it.
