Django Unchained and The Dark Knight Rises Top AFI’s 2012 List

AFI AwardsThe American Film Institute (AFI) has announced their selections for the 2012 AFI Awards. These awards honor the best movies and TV shows, documenting outstanding achievements for the year. Whereas most awards seek to award individuals, the AFI Awards honor and celebrate the creative ensembles which go into making movies and shows great through a group effort.

This year, Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises are among those honored for cinematic achievement. Meanwhile, Mad Men sets a record in the TV section, becoming the most recognized AFI TV Awards honoree. This marks its fifth appearance on the awards list.
