A couple weeks ago, we announced that the studio behind The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was looking at four young actors for the role of Harry Osborn. The young actors testing for the position were Sam Claflin, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth and Boyd Holbrook. However, looks like producers decided to go a different route.
Director Marc Webb confirmed, via Twitter, that Dane DeHaan has landed the role of Harry Osborn.

Dane is best known for his role in Chronicle. Considering the direction taken in this casting choice, it seems Sony plans to stick with the darker tone taken by this year’s The Amazing Spider-Man.
As if that wasn’t enough, the studio has also confirmed that Jamie Foxx has signed on for the villain role. Foxx will be playing Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Foxx and DeHaan join Shailene Woodley for the sequel. Woodley was previously announced for the part of Mary Jane Watson. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will both be returning for their roles as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy.
Marc Webb is directing from a script by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will begin filming early 2013. It is currently slated to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
