Agreed, Klingon. I could see it becoming maybe a two parter. Possibly three. I didn’t know that about HBO. I will be on the lookout for that. Damned fine book.

Haha, I don’t know about “fails” but, I was limited to things i’ve read myself. I’ve not heard of the Shannara series, but, I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the suggestion and for reading anyway! Maybe next year’s list will be more complete

I don’t know much about the Warhammer 4k stuff except what i’ve seen on the shelves of my local hobby store, or in the short-lived but pretty decent MMO of warhammer they did a while back. As for Inquisitor Eisenhorn, I’ve never heard of those books. I could only put things on the list that i’d read, but I would definitely check that out!

Exactly! I couldn’t agree more. With today’s tech and the great crop of directors currently working, a Dragonlance film could easily dethrone LOTR, for a while at least.

RE: Wheel of Time: I considered it, but I was thinking of things that would make good one-offs or trilogies, but yes, they would make great films. They would just have to make like 20 of them, haha.

@Joe: Yep, i’ve watched it. The miniseries was very underwhelming, but would have been much more satisfying had it followed the book.

@concretecactus: I considered that, but again quite long. Great series though, except for book 5, which King himself tells people to skip. I also wanted to pick some titles that were lesser known in the fantasy community. There were definitely some things I had to leave off.

No. No to an American Gods movie. It needs to be a miniseries. A movie (unless it’s a multipart movie) doesn’t give enough time to do the story justice. Besides, I do believe HBO is already doing something with this IP.
