De Niro and Scorsese Are Digging Up Jimmy Hoffa

Robert De Niro in Hoffa movieMartin Scorsese and Robert De Niro have been working since 2010 to finalize plans to film I Heard You Paint Houses, a movie to be centered around labor union leader Jimmy Hoffa and the man who claimed to be his murderer, Frank Sheeran. Sheeran was both an influential member of a teamster’s union and a skilled hitman. He confessed to Hoffa’s alleged murder shortly before his death in 2003. The film is based on a book written by Charles Brandt, Sheeran’s lawyer.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, De Niro revealed that the role of Hoffa would go to Al Pacino, while De Niro himself would play Sheeran. Harvey Keitel and Joe Pesci are also rumored to be involved with the project, which is still in development.

I Heard You Paint Houses would be the first time De Niro and Scorsese have worked together since 1995′s Casino.
