In the world of movies, Thanksgiving is probably the least celebrated of all holidays. At the very least, I can say for certain that it doesn’t get near the amount of attention as such holidays as Christmas or Halloween. Relativity Media and Reel FX are looking to change that, though. Or, at least they’re going to bring us one more movie that shows some love to the wonderful holiday that celebrates gluttony.
Relativity and Reel FX are partnering up to bring us Turkeys. The studios have now announced the animated film as well. Conveniently enough, the film will arrive just in time for Thanksgiving when it releases on November 14, 2014. Sure, that’s two Thanksgivings from now, but still a convenient spot.
Turkeys is an animated film which focuses on two turkeys, Jake and Reggie, who are from opposite sides of the track, so to speak. One day, these two happen upon a time machine in secret government lab. Presented with the opportunity, the two must set aside their differences as they travel back to the first Thanksgiving in an effort to change history and get turkeys removed from the menu for good.
Turkeys is directed by Jimmy Hayward. Hayward was the director of Horton Hears a Who and was previously the animator on such Pixar films as Toy Story and Finding Nemo. He directs from a script John Strauss and David I. Stern, with Craig Mazin doing a rewrite. The movie features the voice talents of Woody Harrelson, Owen Wilson and Dan Fogler.
Stay tuned and we’ll keep you up-to-date as we get more about the movie.
