Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have signed on for a hot new crime drama series. The series is titled True Detective. It is descried as an elevated serial narrative with multiple perspectives and time frames.
McConaughey and Harrelson will both play detectives. True Detective is the tale of two detectives, Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson), who find their lives colliding with one another as they both hunt down a Louisiana serial killer.
This will be something of an anthology in that the case/mystery will be solved at the end of the first season. The first season will be an 8-episode arc. If renewed, subsequent seasons will deal with different characters and different stories. So, I guess we can infer from that, that Woody and Matthew will only be working the first season.
Jane Eyre director Cary Fukunaga is set to direct all 8 episodes of the first season. The series is written by Nic Pizzolatto.
McConaughey and Harrelson are real-life friends, thus it should be very interesting seeing them together, as they appear in their first TV collaboration. It definitely sounds like an interesting project. With talent like this already attached, plus the anthology concept, it could turn into something very nice.
