Tom Hanks In Negotiations To Play Walt Disney In Mary Poppins Pic

Back in February, we brought you news about Disney creating a movie based on Mary Poppins. The making-of type film will chronicle the 14-year courtship that Walt Disney underwent with writer P.L. Travers in order to make a movie based on her Mary Poppins book.

At the time, it was rumored that Tom Hanks was being considered for the role of Walt Disney himself. We can now confirm that the actor is actually in negotiations with the studio to star in the film, titled Saving Mr. Banks.

On top of that, Emma Thompson is in negotiations to play the role of Travers opposite Tom Hanks.

Saving Mr. Banks is to be directed by Blind Side director John Lee Hancock from a script by Kelly Marcel.
