Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy has been one of the best comedies this generation and still stands as one of Will Ferrell’s best movies to-date, behind possibly only Old School in my opinion. As such, fans have been clamoring for a sequel for years. Previously, moves towards a sequel were met with huge excitement from fans. That was until those plans fell through. Now that’s changed, though.
It has been revealed, today, that Anchorman 2 will indeed be made. Deadline got the scoop earlier today. Then, later, Ron Burgundy himself showed up on Conan to make an official announcement of the sequel. You can watch a video of that below.
All of the original main cast members have also signed on to return. Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner will be reprising their roles in Anchorman 2. Furthermore, Adam McKay will be returning to direct the sequel. He will, again, be teaming with Will Ferrell to write the script for the sequel.
Anchorman 2 will be produced under Judd Apatow’s banner in collaboration with Will Ferrell’s and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions.
No word yet on any projected release date, but we now at least know the project is underway and has been given the go-ahead. News team assemble, fans rejoice…Ron Burgundy is back!
