Schwarzenegger Joins Stallone in Action Flick ‘The Tomb’

I’m not sure what all this appeal is concerning nostalgic pairings of old ass action stars that probably shouldn’t be making action movies anymore, but here we go again. Schwarzenegger has signed on to join Sylvester Stallone in the action thriller The Tomb.

Both were competing for the lead role over time, but Stallone ended up getting the call last year. However, eager to work with Schwarzenegger, Stallone pulled some strings I guess to get his buddy to come in for a different role. Schwarzenegger’s role will be that of Church, a complex man who becomes something of a leader amongst inmates, helping them to keep their head above water.

The Tomb tells the tale of Ray Breslin, played by Stallone. Breslin is an authority on structural security. However, when he finds himself locked in the prison of all prisons (which he designed), he must use all his skills to escape this confinement.

The Tomb is being directed by Mikael Håfström, from a script by Miles Chapman and Jason Keller. No word on any projected release date, but you can see Stallone and Schwarzenegger together this summer in The Expendables 2.

I am really looking forward to this one, even though I hated ‘The Expendables’ and won’t be watching the second one.

I think I am given hope in that Stallone is not directing The Tomb and hopefully will have some sort of story instead of just vapid action scenes….
