‘Man of Steel’ Official Synopsis Revealed

As you probably know, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel is already in production and is currently filming in Chicago. Now it looks like they’re seeking some extras as the film moves up to Canada next month. The Superman Homepage has posted an open casting call that details all of this.

However, the real news here is what the agency managed to sneak into the middle of the casting call. It seems we now have our first official plot synopsis for Snyder’s Man of Steel. However, with that comes some disappointment.

The synopsis is fairly vague and doesn’t give away any real spoiler-ish detail, but it does tell us one thing: this is an absolute origin story. Really? Superman is one of the most known and famous superheroes of all-time. Even the synopsis states this. Do we really need a complete origin tale? What’s funnier is the fact that it tries to set up some type of intrigue with some “will Kent use his powers for good or evil” type of line.

Anyways, as disappointing as it may be to go origins yet again, I’m still intrigued to see what Snyder can come up with. I do have to admit the first promotional image for the movie, while not from the movie itself, the art style looks great. You can check out the synopsis below. And for those that have yet to see that cool image, find it at the bottom.

Synopsis:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Wouldn’t that be a twist? Clark uses his powers for evil in the beginning.
