‘The Boondock Saints 3′ is Coming…Kinda

No Boondock Saints 3 release date, but apparently a TV show is in the works.

Boondock Saints 3 release dateThe Boondock Saints is one of my favorite movies of all-time. No, it’s not the greatest of movies and can be rather cliche at times. Despite that, though, it’s just an awesomely fun movie with good dialogue and characters and just a fun time. Willem Dafoe’s Smecker character might be my favorite performance of his ever.

For fans, ever since Part 2 was released, we’ve been eagerly awaiting news about a possible third movie (that Part 2 definitely set up for). Well, now it appears we may finally get that…kinda. In an interview with We Got This Covered, Troy Duffy announced that he’s been approached about doing a Boondock Saints TV show.

Duffy stated that it’s a very likely possibility this will come to fruition and we’ll get to see more adventures of the MacManus Brothers in due time. Furthermore, he indicated that the TV series would not be a watered down version. Instead, it would be a series that ends up on a network like HBO or AMC, so this would allow for the over-the-top violence and crude language that us fans have grown accustomed to with the films.

Now, it sucks that it’s not another movie release, but I’ll definitely take more Boondock Saints any way I can get it. Duffy also stated that he called up Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus, both of whom said they were absolutely interested. Now let’s just hope he could lure Willem Dafoe back in as well, or at least Julie Benz (preferably both). Definitely would like to see other returning characters like Billy Connolly and the three stooges known as Detectives Greenly, Duffy and Dolly.

In the meantime, for all you Boondock Saints fans out there, the movie is getting a re-release on Blu-ray starting tomorrow. This Truth and Justice edition can be ordered HERE.

“be a serious that ends up on a network like HBO or AMC, so this would allow for the over-the-top violence and crude language”
AMC? last time I watched AMC, they cut and censor movies; and has commercials. HBO, in my opinion, would be the only way to go.

Well, obviously, HBO or something like that would be ideal. However, AMC puts plenty of mature stuff of TV. While the show wouldn’t be allowed to become as mature as the movies (tone down the language), obviously the network wouldn’t have a problem with having killings, etc.

Not sure how I would feel about just a series on HBO or the like. I feel like the Saints should be one epic movie, not episodes and season. Plus, Greenly died in the latest film…….so we kinda can’t bring him back.
