‘Cedar Rapids’ Books a DVD and Blu-ray Release Date

Cedar Rapids debuted this year at the Sundance Film Festival. Since then, the comedy has gone on to receive mostly positive reviews. The movie went on to get a limited release in theaters. Now, however, those that didn’t have it in theaters near them will get a chance to watch the comedy as it hits DVD and Blu-ray.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment have announced that the comedy will hit DVD and Blu-ray on June 21, 2011. Pre-orders will be available starting May 25, 2011.

Cedar Rapids is directed by Miguel Arteta based on a script by Phil Johnston. The film stars something of an all-star comedy cast including: Ed Helms, John C. Reilly, Anne Heche, Stephen Root, Kurtwood Smith and others.

Cedar Rapids is the tale of a small-town insurance agent that sets out to the “big city” to represent his company at a convention. What follows is a tale of hilarity, hijinks and shenanigans. You can check out the box art and the list of bonus features after the jump.

Synopsis:

Tim Lippe (Helms) was the guy people always thought would go places but then he just … didn’t. He’s been living in über-sleepy Brown Valley, Wisconsin his whole life, still “pre-engaged” to his 7th grade teacher Millie Vanderhei (Weaver), while selling insurance to protect other people’s dreams. But now, Tim’s stalled life is about to get a kick-start because, for the first time in his 34 years, he’s headed to a “major” metropolis – Cedar Rapids, Iowa – where he must try to save his company at a do-or-die insurance convention that, for him, will be entirely nonconventional. From the minute he checks into his hotel with his ancient American Tourister and cummerbund money-belt, it’s clear Tim has no idea how the modern world really works. He is soon smitten with seductive Nebraskan insurance agent Joan (Heche) and awed by his experienced roommates, the straight-shooting Wilkes (Whitlock Jr.) and the suspicious Zeigler (Reilly).
