Top DVD/Blu-ray Sales and Rentals for the Week Ending March 20, 2011

Last week saw new DVD releases of The Fighter, Hereafter and The Switch. This week we look to see how those movies performed in the home entertainment market. In this weekly feature, I bring you the previous week’s best selling and most rented movies on DVD and Blu-ray.
The Oscar-winning The Fighter lands in the top spot for sales in its debut week, which comes as no real surprise. Though, now that that unsurprising news has been revealed, it must be followed by some sad news. Landing at number two in its debut week is Barbie: A Fairy Secret. Yea, I know. That’s probably even worse than when Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 was breaking top 5 for a while there. Disgusting really. Following that, we still have Megamind doing rather well, landing at number 3 in it’s fourth week of release. Megamind is also the only non-debut movie to make the top five, as Hereafter and The Switch round out the top five.
On the rental side, The Fighter reigns supreme as well. Meanwhile, The Switch lands at number two. Rounding out the top five are Due Date, Hereafter and The Next Three Days. You can check out the full top ten for both lists below.
