Recently, news came out revealing a short-list of directors that were being eyed for the new reboot of the Superman franchise. Today, that list has been narrowed down from five to one. Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros have chosen Zack Snyder to direct the newest Superman movie as they look to reboot the franchise under the guidance of Christopher Nolan. Nolan, along with frequent co-writer David Goyer, wrote the story for the film and Goyer wrote the screenplay. Snyder has directed such films as 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch. Now he will work alongside The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan (who is producing) as the takes up the director’s chair for The Man of Steel.
Other names on the shortlist were Aronofsky (The Wrestler and Pi), Tony Scott, Matt Reeves (Let Me In and Cloverfield), Jonathan Liebesman (The Killing Room) and Duncan Jones (Moon). In the end however, Snyder won out and will be bringing his unique visual style to the Superman franchise as it heads to the big screen once again. Snyder will also be working alongside his wife Deborah Snyder. Deborah will be serving as producer on the project along with Nolan and Charles Roven.
